Donation To The Troops
Students at Cottonwood Valley Charter School raised $200 to go toward Christmas gift packages for members of the 515th CSS Battalion, currently serving in Iraq. Eighth graders Eli Ware and Tessa Guengerich said students sold hot chocolate at school, and at a school dance; and held a bake sale to raise the money. “A total of 13 students were involved,” Ware said. DAV Commander Peter Romero accepted the check on Monday, Dec. 7, and told the students that individual boxes will be mailed to the six Socorro soldiers, and the rest of the boxes will be sent to the unit as a whole to be shared. Romero also reminded the group of the importance of Pearl Harbor Day.
