Martha Garza of the Owl Bar and Café takes down the hundreds of ones, fives, and tens tacked on the wall of the famous San Antonio eatery by locals and tourists throughout the year. Owner Rowena Baca said when all the bills were counted up, she had $1,100 this year to donate to various charities, including the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Good Sam’s, and the Boys’ and Girls’ Ranch. The Owl has raised $20,800 since the yearly tradition at the Owl began.
